FFAG 5
St Malo (France) - march 21-25, 2011

After March 14th an increase of 100 euros will be added to the registration fees.![]()
After the successful editions in Rennes, Trento, Penn-State, and Shiga, we have the pleasure to announce the fifth edition of the Flow and Fracture of Advanced Glasses (FFAG-5) workshop, which will be held in Saint-Malo (France), March 21-25, 2011. As for the previous editions, the workshop is open to any scientist interested in glass and in the physics, the chemistry, and the mechanics of the flow and fracture processes. Researchers, from Industry and Academia, involved in any theoretical or experimental aspect of deformation, viscous flow, shaping, cracking, dynamic fracture, fatigue etc. are welcome.
In addition, a school will be organized on Thursday and Friday just before the workshop (March 17,18) in Rennes, for students (any age ;-) who wish to have some prior introduction to the topics. The school will consist in four sessions: i) Basic glass science and mechanical properties of glasses; ii) Deformation processes (elasticity, viscosity, viscoelsticity, stress relaxation) and glass shaping technologies; iii) Brittle fracture: experiments and theories; iv) Creep, fatigue, and durability of glass. The school will be free of charge provided attendees register for the workshop (note that Saint-Malo is only about 40 min by train or 1 hour by car from Rennes). Don't hesitate to invite your students to participate since some support might be available (from IMI-NFG for instance, from the GDR CNRS "Verre" or from Doctorate Schools for French ones). Application to the school can be done directly through the websiste.
Looking forward to meeting you in Saint-Malo,
On behalf of the organizing committee,
Tanguy Rouxel
